If a government funded aged care home, is referred to as accredited it means that the Aged Care Standards and Accreditation Agency has formally recognised the organisation as operating according the the Accreditation Standards as set out in the Aged Care Act 1997 and the Quality Care Principles 1997. The term of accreditation is for a maximum three year period, provided the organisations continues to meet all associated standards and requirments.
